PRIZED POSSESSION

While painting Raise from Blue, I felt as though I was slowly sinking into water — layer after layer of blue pulling me deeper into silence. Each brushstroke became heavier, quieter, more reflective. There was a moment where everything felt still, almost weightless, as if suspended beneath the surface. But within that depth, something began to shift — a subtle movement, a quiet rise. This painting captures that emotional journey of going inward, facing the heaviness, and finding the strength to return to light. It is about resilience, calm power, and the beauty of rising again.

 PLACEMENT NOTE:

Walls are often expansive, bright, and architecturally clean — making them ideal for large statement artwork. With its 140 cm × 170 cm scale and vertical depth, Raise from Blue is designed to anchor double-height living rooms, elegant Majlis settings, luxury bedroom feature walls, or refined office reception areas. The layered blue tones complement the neutral palettes commonly seen in contemporary UAE interiors — beige marble flooring, soft sand textures, warm wood accents, and minimal modern furniture. When placed against a light cream or white wall with focused ceiling spotlights, the painting creates a calming yet powerful focal point, transforming the space into a sophisticated home art gallery experience.

ARTIST: Gurumaahesh Srinivasan

Artist Statement:

For Srinivasan, the line is more than a simple mark. It is a continuation of thought, memory, and feeling. His works often explore the tension between completion and incompletion, reflecting unspoken emotions and unfinished stories. Through instinctive strokes and layered textures, he transforms these “unfinished lines” into narrative threads that speak to the universal truths of vulnerability, silence, and the unresolved.

Artist Biography :

Gurumaahesh Srinivasan I 1976 March
Contemporary Abstract Artist

"For 25 years, my hands have been in conversation with the canvas. What began as a self-taught exploration of form has evolved into a deeply instinctive practice of 'painting the mind.' My journey has been one of intentional unlearning—moving away from the constraints of realism toward the boundless freedom of contemporary abstraction.

My work is a celebration of the unfinished line. In my studio, a stroke that stops mid-air is not a mistake; it is an invitation. I believe that life itself is a series of incomplete thoughts and evolving emotions, and I reflect this through the tactile marriage of acrylics and raw pastels. By building heavy textures and deep layers, I create a physical 'skin' on the canvas that mirrors the complexity of our inner worlds.

As a self-taught artist, my perspective is unpolished and unfiltered. I do not paint to provide answers, but to capture the energy of a moment before it fades. Each piece I create is a 25-year-old promise to stay curious, to trust my instincts, and to find beauty in the gaps we leave behind."
