The Artist CIX 


CIX is a modern contemporary artist making his pieces entirely out of Rubik's Cubes. Since 2008 he has been the front-runner in evolving the new art movement of Rubik Cubism worldwide. CIX mainly focuses on portraits, Whether it being a sporting icon, Famous celebrity or someone close to you in your life. CIX also does pieces to include landscapes, animals, and architectural and corporate logos. CIX has recently started performing interactive pieces where the public can join in and help complete the works or simply have fun playing with the variety of cubes on show.


CIX has exhibited in galleries in the UK, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai, and will be exhibiting in New York soon. His pieces have been sold in England, Europe, America, Asia, and the Middle East, with private commissions produced for individuals, English Premier League footballers, and International Corporations and art collectors alike. He holds many artists in admiration and inspiration. Among them are Andy Warhol, Banksy, and Roy Lichtenstein.

“I designed this bespoke Artwork 'The Lion that Stares' made completely from 999 Rubik Cubes. This piece was the most challenging and detailed Rubikcubsim art piece to date. CIX really challenged the difficulty in catching as much detail possible only using 5 colours of the Rubik cube. Inspired by the Mona Lisa creating a powerful connection with the audience from the eyes.


This piece was a huge learning curve for CIX in evolving his work and changing the view of the Rubikcubism art form industry as a whole.


The Lion was made for a grand statement artwork that is a talking point and stands out as a feature piece in any room.


CIX had no direction or requirements with this piece. CIX decided to challenge himself to redefine the Rubikcubism art style and take a step back from the 'normal' approach.


The challenge with Rubik's Cube art is detail. As you only have 5 colors to use (he never use green). So CIX thought it would be a great idea to focus this piece on just detail.


CIX used the differing pixel method to create as many layers and detail as possible, creating a third eye effect, where the portrait really comes to life from a distance.


Sometimes taking a step back from your art and starting from scratch is how you really evolve your own unique art style.”
