Dubai is a mélange of multiple cultures and amidst this potpourri, there is a distinct identity that is alive and visible through the lanes of Al Seef and Bastakiya. These paintings are also a reflection of the Dubai vibe where cultures are interwoven to give it a unique identity, just the way we have blended our styles to create each work. The process was so exciting as we did not know how the finished painting will look and trusted each other in contributing towards the creation of the artwork.
We have diverse backgrounds and hail from different cultures, while one is German other is Indian. One works in multimedia and abstractly while the other prefers water media and impressionism. It is the love for art and these beautiful spaces that brought us together. Our regular sketching meetups, and sharing our stories over a ‘Karak’ grew our bond stronger. The genesis to create these art pieces sprung from the need to continue our interactions beyond the limitations of space and time. We wanted to create memories of our love for the city and especially these spaces in our own way. Through these explorations, we have attempted to capture a glimpse of this interplay of cultures by weaving our different styles together.
